Several studies have shown that those who drank a shake containing protein and carbs after training, accelerated the recovery process after training.

A new study focused on using protein shakes and carbohydrate during extreme conditions. Stress meant 54 days of basic training for recruits for the U.S. Navy units. Intensive training in military camps is associated with muscle fatigue, dehydration and other protein concentrated problems.
The recruits who drank after military training were less dehydrated, had 33% fewer visits to the doctor, less, problems by infection with bacteria or viruses, less problems with muscles and joints and 83% fewer events because of the heat exhaustion, compared with the control group who did not drink protein shakes.
The fact that they drank protein shakes after training, produced an improvement in health status, although the study's authors offered several theories.
Important is that now it is known that the positive effects of protein shakes are numerous and improve health, not just the restoration and muscle growth.
